Board for Cricket Control in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) has announced their 15-men Squad for the Cricket World Cup 2011. Wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara has been named as the Captain for the World Cup 2011.
The huge surprise was the omission of most experience batsman Sanath Jayasuriya and bowler Chaminda Vaas.
The squad announcement process has begun and many teams have finalized their cricket team’s squad. Sri Lanka after including Chaminda Vaas and Jayasuriya surprisingly in their preliminary squad finally announced their 15-member squad, dropping both the players. Among the veteran players, Muttiah Murlitharan is included in the squad. So here is another chance for Murlitharan to show his magic and claim the second world cup trophy for Sri Lanka after 1996.

The list includes :Kumar Sangakkara (capt & wk), Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Thilan Samaraweera, Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis, Rangana Herath, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga and Dilhara Fernando.
