England Cricket Board (ECB) revealed their final 15-men squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2011, starting 19th Feb. Andrew Strauss remains as the Captain for the World Cup 2011.
Spinner James Tredwell has been included in the squad along with experienced Graeme Swann and Micheal Yardy.
England, the current World T20 champions, certainly have a chance of adding the 50-over trophy to their cupboard. They were poor at the last World Cup, which was overshadowed by the tragic death of Pakistan's coach, Bob Woolmer. Australia were the eventual champions, their third title in a row.
World cup history:England was the most consistent performer at world cups until 1992. It lost to West Indies, Australia and Pakistan in the finals of 1979, 1987 & 1992 world cups respectively. Indian cricket fans may never forget the wonderful final match at Eden Gardens between Mike Gatting’s England and Allan Border’s Australia in Reliance World cup. But, England struggled in 1999, 2003 and 2007 world cups.
